The Key To Happy Accounting Clients

So many years in this Profession learning how unhappy business owners were with their accounting has created a burning desire in me to, do what I can, to help them get it all straightened out for once. If one of my gifts is the Rubik's Cube of business, Accounting, then I may as well go out there an do some good with it.

Who are you? Hello, it's nice to me you, my name is Ben Mueller, owner and operator of Blue Collar CFO.

First of all, thanks for visiting my accounting consulting website! It means a lot as a small business to actually get people looking at my site without having to pay crazy amounts for advertising. So, thank you.

You may be on this page because you are experiencing an accounting nightmare in your business yourself. To begin, I understand. There are many people like yourself that were trying to get a business started and became buried in Operations. What tends to fall to the back of the work pile, is accounting. Years of this can create a storm of tax issues and underperforming businesses.

If that describes your current accounting situation, we should talk. But before doing so, I want to give you an idea of my professional background so that you understand that you are communicating with someone that is well versed in overall accounting, which makes it easier for me to dissect the really complicated cases and create what should be there.

After graduating with an Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Cloud State University and a minor in Spanish at the University of Costa Rica, I worked in the Corporate Accounting world, but after 17 years, I realized that I could create more value through my work by going out on my own and helping small to midsize businesses satisfying their accounting department needs, and build stronger cash flow for the owner. Happy accounting clients and I did this by showing them exactly how their businesses were performing financially, and what they could do to increase their net take home.

With that said, I took on the more rewarding accounting path and have been providing professional accounting and business consulting services to clients, in many different industries and countries, since 2008.

From fraud investigations and forensic accounting restatement, to monthly accounting services through financial statement analysis, my goal is to build an accounting environment where you maximize your profits by focusing on the two things that make up the profit or loss, the revenue and expenses.

When you aren't looking at it, simple things escape you. What we can do is customize a plan that takes your current accounting (or lack thereof), to a level that provides the value that correct accounting gives a business.

All that said, to say this. Your Accountant should be your biggest confidant! After being in the accounting profession for 30 plus years, I have realized the importance of trust. Trust is the backbone of any finance person and client's relationship. Giving you some of my personal background, I have found, only helps build that trust as I am, a person that operates from open and honest way of life.

I grew up in West St. Paul, MN, lived in Denver, CO for 22 years where I met my wife and started a family. In 2021, we took on an adventure and moved down to a beach town in SW FL where we fell in love with a much more laid back life! We missed the mountains though and recently moved back to Colorado and have the goal of living a "Snow Bird" lifestyle going forward.

Being a husband and father of four takes up the majority of my time outside of work, but I am blessed enough to coach football at the local high school in town. Fishing, water sports, pickleball, beach, and mountain time are my other ways to enjoy life!

After all these years in accounting, I have learned that what I do for a living, is not who I am. It took me a long time to grasp that, but once I did, I became that much more of a consultant because I had been able to achieve balance in my life by putting family first, and allowing my work to become something I really enjoy, instead of a job. When a person is spreading solutions, joy, comfort, or anything like that, their life takes on a whole new meaning.

This way of life has not only made me better in the most important areas of my life, but ultimately translates to even more value for my clients.

One last thing, you may be wondering why my business is named "Blue Collar CFO". This is to pay homage to my father who was a true blue collar man. Being a farmer and then as a small engine mechanic, he always rolled up his sleeves and got the job done.

The key to happy accounting clients is doing an exceptional job for what I am hired to do. As an accountant and a person trusted with your finances, I adopted this work style...nothing is beneath me as the key to creating quality work is doing what is necessary to ensure the information is correct and useful!

Get in touch with me to learn more about how I can help create value for your business through improved accounting. It will open your eyes to the possibilities of what your business can actually do.
